Twin Falls man denies kidnapping, rape charges

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) - A 39-year-old Twin Falls man has denied seven felony charges filed after his ex-girlfriend said he broke into her house and beat, choked and raped her and held her against her will for nearly 10 hours.

Steven Ray Stone pleaded not guilty Monday to first-degree kidnapping, rape, attempted strangulation, aggravated assault, domestic battery, burglary and violating a no-contact order. His bail remains at $500,000.

The woman said Stone was in her house when she returned home on Dec. 16. She was able to call for help at 4 a.m. the next day after Stone fell asleep.

District Judge Richard Bevin scheduled a May 6 trial.

Court records indicate Stone has been charged with seven previous crimes against the same woman over the past two years, including misdemeanor domestic battery on Dec. 2.
