Theft arrest leads to a break in another case

CALDWELL, Idaho (KBOI) - On Friday Caldwell Police arrested 44 year old Maria Delgado after they say she was caught on security cameras stealing a purse at a local store.

Officers responded to Paul's Market in Caldwell after a cashier reported her purse had been stolen. Police looked over surveillance footage and recognized the suspect from similar instances.

Police arrived at her home just as she was preparing to leave and took her into custody. After searching her home investigators found more evidence involved with other thefts that occurred around Canyon County. There were several purses, pocket books, and cell phones. They were able to identify at least one other victim from a separate incident that occurred in Nampa.

Investigators say Delgado used cards stolen from the victims at another convenient store. She has been charged with Burglary, Grand Theft, Fraudulent use of a Financial Transaction Card, and Possession of Stolen Property.

The investigation is still ongoing and officers expect more suspects to be identified and arrested soon.
