A father and his 15-year-old daughter were rescued after an ATV rolled over deep in Washington County.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office says it received a report of a hunter that had broken his ankle after he had rolled his ATV near Dodson Pass Sunday night.

Deputies, along with responders from the Midvale Fire and Protection District, tried to locate the hunter but due to terrain and darkness, the search was called off.

On Monday morning, the sheriff's office says the hunter and his daughter were found in a rocky ravine. His daughter, who was not on the ATV that rolled, had been taking care of him during the early morning hours and was in "good spirits" when the rescue took place.

Officials called in Two Bear Air out of Flathead County Montana to assist in an air hoist rescue. The hunter was later brought to a safe zone and was then taken to a local hospital via Life Flight.

"Great teamwork by all the agencies involved made this a successful rescue," police said.
