Fire restrictions are being put in place in the Treasure Valley and West Central Mountains later this week due to the threat of wildfire, according to the Forest Service.

The Stage 1 restrictions prohibit campfires or stoves in areas other than designated sites with approved fire structures. The restrictions also prohibit smoking except in areas with barren soil or developed recreation sites.

The areas affected are private and public lands protected by the Boise National Forest, Boise District Bureau of Land Management, and state and endowment lands.

Ada, Canyon, Gem, Payette, Elmore, Boise, Valley, and Washington counties are all included in the restrictions.
