Snow on its way! Winter weather advisory issued for Treasure Valley

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- Although it never really left, it seems like winter is on its way back into the Treasure Valley.

And it's going to get snowy.

On Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for snow in the Treasure Valley. The advisory is calling for anywhere between three and nine inches of snow to fall between 5 p.m. Thursday and Saturday evening.

The NWS says the storm will offer a prolonged period of snow.

"It is clear to us that we are in for a significant snow," the NWS says.

KBOI 2News chief meteorologist Vin Crosby says the storm has a potential to be a major snow event for the area. Mountain locations won't be counting the snow in inches. It will be in feet.
