Should there be more security cameras in Boise?

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Security cameras played a vital role in identifying the Boston bombing suspects, so should cities like Boise have more installed to deter crime?

Many residents said they would like to see more cameras around big cities, but also said there is a point where it can be too much.

"I think they're a good thing to have around to keep crime down, and a lot of problems can be solved by them," said Casey Shelden of Green Leaf. "Although as I said you can always have too much of a good thing."

Several government buildings like the Ada County Courthouse, and Boise City Hall have several cameras watching the area. Although once in areas of downtown there aren't as many.

With tight budgets at both the federal and local level we are not likely to see more cameras soon. It will likely be up to private business to install security systems around their business.
