Sheriff: 19-year-old Melba man dies after vehicle goes off cliff

A 19-year-old man has died after the vehicle his was riding in went off a cliff late Monday.

The Canyon County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called out to Pump Road near Map Rock Road at about 10:27 p.m. after the driver reported to police he drove over the cliff and rolled his vehicle.

When police arrived, they found the driver and an 19-year-old passenger who had been injured. The 19-year-old, who police say was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, was taken by Air St. Luke's in Boise but died early Tuesday morning.

Another 18-year-old passenger, who was wearing his seat belt, was not injured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
