Section of Greenbelt closing for 8 months
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) —
Beginning October 25, a section of the Boise River Greenbelt in east Boise will closed due to construction. It will not reopen until June 22, 2018.
Construction crews will be piping the Penitentiary Canal that runs next to the Greenbelt and widening the path itself.
The closure will be from Warm Springs Avenue near Shakespeare Way to the Diversion Dam off Highway 21. That's 1.65 miles.
There will be no detour during construction, and Ada County Commissioner Jim Tibbs warns everyone will need to stay off that section of the Greenbelt. "They just can't go past those barricades, it will be too dangerous."
Project updates will be posted on the Ada County Parks & Waterways Facebook page www.facebook.com/adacountyparks and the Ada County Twitter feed twitter.com/Ada_County
