Season of Wishes: Garrett

HOMEDALE, Idaho- During the holidays KBOI 2 News features the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Idaho. Tami Tremblay will introduce you to a local wish child and volunteer every week until the beginning of January.

"Garrett is 7-years-old and he's about the size of a 5-year-old," said Oscar Evans, who is Garrett's father. "Socially he is more like a 3 or 4-year-old."

Garrett has mitochondrial disease which is a muscle disorder that could shorten his life.

The Homedale boy just returned from Disney World in Florida and his wish granter,Jenelle Jenson, helped get him there.

"He was really easy," Jenson said. "Most kiddos pick Disney World."

"He was totally enthralled the whole time and they treated him like a prince," Evans said.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Idaho sent Garrett and his family of five, including sisters Addie and Ainslee.

"Some people don't realize this but when you have a special needs kid in the house their siblings have extra challenges too," Evans said.

The Evan's family says they will always be thankful for Make-A-Wish.

" One of the most amazing organizations I've seen," Evans said. "Rolled out the red carpet for us."

If you would like to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Idaho they are always looking for volunteers and donations. You can call 345-9474 or head to the organization's website:
