Prosecutor says deadly shooting of suicidal man was justified

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - A Bannock County Prosecutor has determined that a deadly shooting in Boise by police back was justified.

Troy Epperley, 37, died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen May 31 after officials say they saw him move aggressively toward officers with a handgun.

Prosecutor Mark Hiedeman said Epperley, who texted his estranged wife that he wanted to commit "suicide by cop" was armed with the gun when he failed to obey officer instructions.

"There is no question that officers acted appropriately under these circumstances," Hiedeman said in a news release.
