Police: Officer drove wrong way on 13th due to emergency call

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Three people, including a Boise Police officer, were taken to the hospital after a crash in downtown Boise Tuesday morning.

Boise PD says an officer was driving southbound on the northbound 13th Street (which is one way) when his vehicle collided with an SUV. All three people were treated and released from a local hospital.

"The officer was traveling south on a north-bound one-way street, which is something normally reserved for emergency responses," Boise Deputy chief William Bones said in a news release. "Investigators do believe the officer was responding with his lights and siren to an urgent call for help from another officer."

Officials say at 9:21 a.m. an officer at 13th and Myrtle radioed that he needed urgent help from additional officers because he was in an altercation with two men.

Three minutes later, the BPD officer involved in the crash, called dispatch to report the crash.

Garden City Police will conduct an investigation and determine whether any charges should be filed.
