Police: Man struck father-in-law with machete before SWAT standoff

PORTLAND, Ore. - A 39-year-old man is in jail after striking his father -in-law with a machete, Portland police said.

The arrest came around 3 a.m., hours after a SWAT team was sent in to assist officers who had gone to investigate a report of domestic violence at 10200 N. Midway Ave.

Bradley Wyatt was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of methadone and menacing.

When police arrived at the home, Wyatt refused to come out. He was alone, but police believed he was armed.

Wyatt will be arraigned Monday.
