Police: Man arrested after firing shots outside Caldwell business Thursday

A Bozeman Montana man was arrested Thursday after he reportedly fired shots at two other men outside of a business in Caldwell at 2:00 p.m. police say.

Witnesses at the scene say the shots were fired after the two men interrupted a vehicle burglary in the business parking lot in the 2500 block of E. Cleveland. Neither victim was struck or injured police say.

Police say the suspect, later identified as Caleb Lamp, 31, fled the area and was located by police at the intersection of Linden and Wisconsin with the handgun still in possession. According to police the handgun had been stolen during the vehicle burglary.

According to police Lamp was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, burglary, grand theft, resisting arrest, battery on law enforcement officer, carrying concealed weapon while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and discharge of a firearm within city limits. He is currently being held in the Canyon County Jail.
