Police: Boise man arrested after fleeing in stolen car

Boise Police attempted a traffic stop in Garden City that later ended in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Garden City.

Police say Colby Sage, 20, of Boise was taken into custody for felony grand theft and eluding an officer.

Boise Police Officers noticed a car that had been reported stolen from the City of Moscow driving on Fairview Ave. at 2:30 a.m.. They say they attempted a traffic stop when the driver fled. Officers say they didn't pursue the vehicle and other officers in the area were notified about the incident.

Garden City Police Officers then reported seeing the vehicle driving westbound on Chinden Boulevard at a high rate of speed into oncoming traffic.

According to police, Sage continued to drive westbound on Chinden and lost control of the car and crashed around the 44th street area. Officers found the vehicle on it's side smoking and with flames.

Police say Sage was able to exit the car and was taken into custody as flames were extinguished by another officer.

Paramedics also responded to the scene and the suspect was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries, according to police. He was later cleared and transported to the Ada County Jail.
