Outdoor heat melts some ice at indoor rink

BOISE, Idaho - The lingering heat is causing problems for local businesses.

Idaho Ice World officials said they've had to postpone several hockey games due to the high heat and its effects on the ice.

"The room warms up and so it is the ambient temperature in the room that effected our ice," said Tommy Owner, Ice World Manager. "We can't just come in and turn it down really cold because it can start shattering the ice which makes it even worse. For us, it was a safety thing to look out for our players to make sure that nobody got hurt when they were out here."

He said Ice World doesn't plan other closures this week.
