One killed after SUV crashes into Payette River

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Emergency crews are on the scene of a fatal crash on Highway 55 and the Payette River Monday night.

The crash happened near milepost 67 just north of Horseshoe Bend.

Boise County Dispatch said the call came in after someone saw the SUV's lights on in the water.

Officials at the scene say the body Steven Lenon, 61, of Eagle, was pulled from the vehicle, as well as a deceased dog.

Idaho State Police say it appears the SUV was traveling northbound when it swerved towards the uphill side of the road, then over-corrected to the left before rolling down a 40-foot embankment and ending up on its roof in the river.
