New tailgating rules not affecting local bars

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - New tailgating rules allow fans to drink in designated areas of Boise on game day. Bar owners said before Fridays game against Air Force that it's not having a negative impact on sales.

With people being able to drink legally outside you would think it would drive people away, but most bars haven't noticed a difference. Many fans we talked with also told us they like to experience the atmosphere of both bars, and tailgating.

Even though most bars didn't see an impact they also admit it was hard to judge on last weeks game against UT Martin. That's because it was an early start, against a weaker opponent, and was coming off a big loss against UW.

Bartenders tell us the new rules might even help business because fans can walk between the tailgating area to nearby bars without worrying about getting a ticket for an open container.
