New proposals to save Nampa School District shortfall

NAMPA, Idaho (KBOI) - The Special Budget Committee for the Nampa School District has come up with a list of proposals to help tackle its budget shortfall. The district is dealing with a deficit of more than $4 million.

The district got into a hole after what it called "accounting errors." The spokeswoman for the Nampa School District says Wednesday was likely the last meeting of the committee, which will be presenting its proposals to board members next week.

Some of the ideas include: Selling some of the district's property on 12th avenue, having fees for participation in non-graded sports and activities and exploring grants and more furlough says.

The former superintendent, Gary Larsen, resigned this school year after the shortfall was announced.
