Neighbor on Harris Ranch brush fire: 'It was scary'

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Fire crews responded to a brush fire in east Boise Wednesday night.

The fire burned dry grass along Eckert Road between Barber Park and the Harris Ranch subdivision.

The Boise Fire Department says that the fire grew to about 20 acres and that no structures were burned.

Neighbors in the area said they started pulling out hoses and watering their yards as a precuation.

"It was scary," said John Comstock, who lives nearby. "When I came out about an hour ago flames were right there around Eckert Road and it just flares up and pushed the flames down across the bridge. Huge flames - 20 to 30 feet in the air."

Firefighters responded with two engines and six brush rigs to get the fire contained in about 45 minutes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
