Nampa Police to investigate Filer police dog shooting

FILER, Idaho (KBOI) - The Nampa Police Department has been asked to investigate a fatal dog shooting from over the weekend in the small town of Filer.

On Saturday, Filer Police officer Tarek Hassani shot and killed a barking black Labrador. He's since been placed on administrative leave.

Sgt. Tim Randall with Nampa PD said investigators will only look into the civil and policy standards. If any criminal charges were to be issued it would have to come from the Twin Falls County Prosecutor's Office.

The dash-cam video has received national attention and also prompted a city-wide gathering in Filer where hundreds asked for the officer to step down from his position.
