Nampa PD: 'God and Country' worst traffic jam of the year

NAMPA, Idaho (KBOI) - Several people experienced long traffic backups during the God and Country Rally at the Idaho Center in Nampa. The rally gets people from all over the Treasure Valley to attend.

Nampa resident Mike Crossley said that he waited for more than 45 minutes just to get out of the parking lot one year. Now he tends to leave a little early and watch the fireworks from farther away.

"It's pretty bad actually trying to get in and out of the parking lot (it) usually takes about 45 minutes," said Crossley. "Especially if you get here before anybody else and you're parked near the front then it's terrible to get out of here."

Nampa Police said this event is one of the worst traffic jams of the year.

"We have a lot of people who fill up every parking spot, and every wide spot in the road anywhere nearby here, Deran Watt of Nampa Police said. "So when the fireworks are the street are going to be instantly filled"
