Mountain Home Air Force Base civilian employees to take furloughs
MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho (KBOI) - Officials at Mountain Home Air Force Base said Tuesday that most Defense Department employees will be required to take 11 furlough days beginning next week.
Civilian employees will be required to take 11 furlough days through Sept. 30 (one a week).
A furlough places an employee in a temporary non-duty, non-pay status because of lack of work, reduction or lack of funds, or other non-disciplinary reason.
"We never wanted this to happen, and we hope Congress will be able to release more funds to end furloughs as soon as possible. Our civilians are absolutely essential to Mountain Home Air Force Base," said Col. Byron Anderson, 366th Fighter Wing vice commander.
