Mosquitoes with West Nile found in Ada County
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- Get the bug spray ready, Treasure Valley.
Ada County officials say mosquitoes collected in a trap earlier this week have tested positive for the West Nile virus.
County officials say the trap is located in an area between Highway 16 and N. Star Road, north of Highway 44. They say there's a possibility that the positive test could be localized, because no other mosquitoes trapped in other parts of the county have tested positive for the virus.
"Mosquito Abatement staff conducted additional fogging this week in the area where West Nile Virus was detected," said Brian Wilbur, weed, pest and mosquito abatement director.
"We constantly work to stay on top of the county's mosquito population, and when we have a positive result like this we address it immediately. We will continue to keep a close eye on this location, in addition to our regular treatment efforts throughout the county."
