Meridian School District changes name to West Ada

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Joint School District No. 2, also known as the Meridian School District, is changing its name, according to the Meridian Press.

The district voted Tuesday night to change the name to West Ada County School District to better reflect the area that it encompasses.

The current Meridian School District includes schools in Boise, Eagle, and Star, as well as Meridian.

The district says only 50% of the students who attend school in the Meridian School District actually live in Meridian. It is the largest school district in the state.

According to the Meridian Press, the district says the process to change the name will take over a year and the cost is still being worked out.
