Men charged in Lake Lowell shooting death plead not guilty
NAMPA, Idaho (AP) - Two men charged in the August shooting death of a Nampa man whose body was found near Lake Lowell have pleaded not guilty.
The Idaho Press-Tribune reports 33-year-old Gregory Raymond Higgins pleaded not guilty in District Court Friday to first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping in the death of 27-year-old James Groat.
Co-defendant Christopher Michael Duran pleaded not guilty to aiding and abetting both murder and kidnapping.
A judge has sealed the court file for 21-year-old Cruz Flores, the third man arrested after Groat's death.
Investigators said they learned Groat was asked to provide assistance to Duran and Higgins on an alleged drug transaction, and Higgins confronted Groat with allegations that Groat was an informant for law enforcement.
Police said there was no indication Groat was an informant.
