The Melba schools were in a soft lockdown status after a wanted man entered the school grounds Wednesday.

The Canyon County Sheriff's Office says 26-year-old Justin Scott Edde was taken in custody later in the day at 4 p.m.

According to Idaho court records, Edde failed to show up for a pre-trial conference Dec. 18 for a drug paraphernalia charge in Canyon County.

School officials say the suspect ran across school parking lots, jumped the elementary school fence and then ran into the city of Melba.

The Melba School District says the incident occurred when students were entering the building during morning drop off.

"There is no indication of any threat to the schools; it was merely a case of someone who did not want to be contacted by law enforcement," sheriff spokesman Joe Decker said in a news release.
