Mayor Debbie Kling will be giving her first State of the City Address on Tuesday, April 17th., celebrating the theme "We are Nampa"

KBOI 2 talked to Nampa neighbors on what they would like their newly elected Mayor to address.

"I appreciate the work being done on the roads right now as messy as it is to negotiate. I'm glad that we're working on the infrastructure and getting the roads taken care of down here," said Chelle Gluch, a candidate for District 12.

Now that they see the city is responding to their voice. some neighbors in Nampa have some other requests they hope the mayor can consider during her state of the city address.

"We can grow business here in Nampa. It's a great place to live, it's a great place to work and I think we can do a little better in tracking some industry," Gluch said.

Residents say that downtown Nampa is losing some of the small businesses that have been around for years. With new infrastructure they say the city should try to fill the empty businesses.

"I hope that there's continued investment downtown and investing in that growth and encouraging more retail to come here and encouraging our community to be here," said a Nampa resident.

And that there is growth to be done in all areas of Nampa.

"The North side of Nampa is not quite keeping up with the development and growth the way the rest of Nampa is," said Gluch.

The address will be hosted at Colombia High School from 4-5 p.m.

301 S Happy Valley Rd, Nampa, ID 83687

The event is free to the public.
