Man who died after getting struck by vehicle wasn't in crosswalk

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - A man taken to the hospital after being hit by a car Wednesday evening has died from his injuries.

The incident occurred on 36th Street and West Anderson near State Street. A witness told police the victim, 44-year-old Kelly Summers of Boise, stepped into traffic as he began to cross the road.

Boise Police says Summers was not in a crosswalk and it was dark at the time of the incident. A vehicle traveling south on 36th Street struck the man as he was crossing the street.

The coroner says Summers died of blunt force trauma to the head and chest.

The investigation into the incident continues. No citations have been issued.
