Man found with gunshot wound to head dies after bank robbery

ONTARIO, Ore., (KBOI) -- A man found with a gunshot wound to the head shortly after an Ontario area bank was robbed Thursday has died, Oregon State Police say.

Troopers said in a news release at 12:27 p.m. the Bank of the West had reportedly just been robbed by a man with a gun who had taken off in a pickup. A few minutes later, Oregon State Police and Ontario PD spotted the suspect vehicle on the side of Alameda Drive near Onion Avenue, which is about two miles south of Ontario.

Police found a man unconscious and slumped over with the gunshot wound to the head. He initially wasn't breathing and had no pulse, but started breathing after receiving medical care. He was transported to a local hospital but later died. OSP said the gunshot wound was self inflicted.
