Man, 28, disappears underwater while swimming in the Snake
PAYETTE, Idaho -- Rescue crews are searching the Snake River for a man who went underwater and never resurfaced during a Saturday night swim.
Payette Police officials said the 28-year-old man was swimming far from shore when he went under at around 6 p.m. Saturday.
People swimming with the man tried to find him, but officers said they were unsuccessful.
After searching the Snake River until dusk on Saturday, rescue crews from Payette Police, Sheriff's and Fire departments worked with Malhuer County Search and Rescue continued the rescue effort on Sunday.
