Local pools see spike during heatwave
Temperatures are on the rise this week and that has locals swarming to community pools to beat the heat.
"The triple digits is pretty warm, but the water usually feels really good," said Sue Clark, a pool visitor.
This common trend has some pools nearing capacity
"I hope we don't have to turn anyone away, but we'll have to if we get [too] crowded," said Janea Walker, pool manager for the Meridian Community Pool.
To make things more accommodating during the holiday, Meridian's pool hours have been extended.
The pool will be open Tuesday, July 4, from noon until 5 p.m.
The majority of pools in Boise, however, will be closed for the day.
If you are still looking for a way to cool off on Independence Day in Boise, you can visit the Natatorium Pool & Hydrotube and Fairmont pool.
Those are open between 1:30 and 5:30 p.m.
