Local group wants to know: Are your chemicals safe?

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Members of the safer chemicals healthy families coalition talked with mothers in an effort to rally support around the safer chemicals act, which aims to increase chemical safety, inform consumers and the marketplace on hazardous chemicals, and protect vulnerable populations like pregnant women and children.

"Any chemicals in our household products, whether it be in detergents, or any cleaning substances. I can't really name any specific chemical because there hasn't been very much research on these chemicals, and that's what the bill is supposed to do," says coalition member Caleb Crim.

Suzanne chetwood is a mother of twin 18 month old girls and she says she is concerned about dangerous chemicals impacting her children.

"Household cleaning items are obvious, but even in soaps and basic things, chemicals in your carpet, furniture, things like that. With eczema and skin issues coming up that is a major concern that I think most moms have," says Suzanne Chetwood.
