Ketchum man, 54, dies in flooded basement
KETCHUM, Idaho (KBOI) —
Blaine County Sheriff's deputies and a technical rescue team responded yesterday to a report of a man in a flooded basement.
When they arrived at the home on Eagle Creek Road, the homeowners told them that a man from a local landscaping company who was helping with flooding issues, had been calling for help. The rescue team went into the basement and located the man in a secondary room. He was unconscious in about 6 feet of water.
Ketchum Fire Department medics administered CPR to the man and transported him to St. Luke's Wood River Hospital where he later died.
The victim is identified as Mike Wirth, a 54-year-old Ketchum resident. The cause of death has not been determined. The incident is under investigation.
