Jury clears former prosecutor Bujak in grand theft case

NAMPA, Idaho (AP) A former Canyon County prosecutor has been found not guilty by a jury of one count of grand theft for his role in representing an estate as a private lawyer.

The Idaho Press Tribune reported the jury deliberated for more than two hours Thursday before reaching a verdict in the case against John Bujak.

Bujak resigned as Canyon County Prosecutor in 2010 amid legal turmoil with county officials. The grand theft case emerged in 2011 and is separate from two his upcoming trial on allegations of misuse of public funds while in office.

In this case, Bujak was accused of taking more than $3,780 from an estate in 2009.

Bujak said he was pleased with the jury's verdict, but admits he has other legal hurdles yet to clear.
