Idaho's wages fail to grow as fast as in other states

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- The challenge in recovering from the Great Recession appears to be income.

And new labor statistics show Idaho continues to slide the wrong direction in that category.

Idaho's average hourly wage slipped about four tenths of a percentage point in 2013, according to the Idaho Department of Labor.

But the decline was less than Idaho saw in 2011 and 2012.

"That's probably some reflection of wages being stagnant across the country," said Bob Fick, Department of Labor spokesman.

Idaho's average hourly wage for all occupations in 2013 was $18.67, up from $18.48 in 2012, but down slightly compared to the 2013 national average wage of a little over $22 an hour.

Overall, Idaho's average hourly wage ranked 47th among the states, down from 46th in 2012
