Idaho inmate firefighter caught after leaving California fire line
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) —
The Idaho Department of Correction says an inmate assigned to a fire crew in California was captured after walking away for about three hours.
IDOC says Angelo Manuel Diaz, 37, was reported missing around 111:30 a.m. Friday morning near the town of Sonoma.
After he was located by a Napa County Sheriff's deputy, IDOC says Diaz claimed he had gotten lost while going to use the restroom.
IDOC says Diaz and his 19-member crew have been in California for nearly a week.
Diaz is serving a ten year sentence from Bannock County for possession of a controlled substance.
