Grab your food truck grub in one central location

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- Looking for a food truck? Look no further: The West End Food Park opens at 6 p.m. on Thursday, so you'll be able to fill up on your favorite fast food all in one spot.

The food park is located on the corner of 25th and Fairview Ave in Boise. The man backing the idea said it was his love of the food that started it all.

"I was just driving around, hoping to find a food truck, but I didn't know where any were and thought it'd be good to have one central location where they can come and exist," Matt Sorensen said.

Sorensen started a Kickstarter fund online to come up with the cash to start the food truck park. The community rallied around the idea and pitched in $20,000 to make it come to life.

"There hasn't been lack of support from any direction." Sorensen said.

And looking in any direction in the immediate area of the food truck park, many people are excited.

"I've worked here for awhile and it's going to be very nice to have a few extra options around here," employee of Fairly Reliable Bob's, James Wood said.

"Yeah I'm excited because we go out to eat everyday at lunch and I really like the taco trucks that come in," said Oscar Williamson, who works at Mountain Waterworks.

Even the crews painting our building here at KBOI said they can't wait to get down to the lot and grab some grub.

"I am totally excited to get to those food trucks," Brett Beeman of AAA Action Painting said. "Man it's been hot our here, we're looking to get some refreshment here."

Sorensen said the owners of the trucks really like events, and he hopes to get things like car shows here, but also said he thinks there's going to be a large market for the trucks alone.

"Trucks starting to be here on a regular basis; I think that's going to be a huge draw," Sorensen said. "In fact there's no doubt about it, there's going to be people here buying food, it's just a matter of getting the trucks parked here.

The West End Food Truck Park opens tonight at 6 p.m. and runs until 10. Sorensen said it will be open daily for lunch and dinner. Tonight there will be two or three trucks set up, along with a beer tent, bike rally and music.
