Gay couple plans to wed on Ada County courthouse steps

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - James Jimenez and his boyfriend Philip planned on getting married this weekend in Walla Walla, Washington on their 13th anniversary.

With all the changes in Idaho's marriage law they say they hope to get married this Friday instead. "With what just changed this week we've been scrambling to make it happen Friday. If everything goes according to plan we'll be there Friday at 9 a.m.," Jimenez said.

Jimenez and his partner own the Philip James Salon on 8th Street in Boise. Jimenez says it would be great to get married Friday but with the governor fighting for a stay and if the courts block them, they will get married in Washington. "They can fight all they want but I think the country is showing they are on the wrong side of history. He's on the wrong side of history," Jimenez says.

Jimenez and his partner have cars together, a business together and even a house together but after thirteen years there was something else they want. He said, "We've paid our dues, we've built our home, our business, were ready to raise a good family."
