Frozen dough company in Caldwell plans to lay off 49 workers

CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) - The frozen dough company Rhodes Bake-N-Serv announced it is shutting down production at its Caldwell plant this spring, putting nearly 50 people out of work.

Rhodes President Kenny Farnsworth said Friday the company plans to consolidate is production of frozen dough for bread, rolls and cinnamon rolls at its plant in Columbus, Wis.

Officials with the Salt Lake City-based company said the Caldwell plant will reduce production starting next month and produce with a limited staff until April 15.

Farnsworth said the plant's 49 employees will be offered severance pay and help finding new jobs. They were told about the shutdown on Thursday.

In the future, the Caldwell plant will be used as a Rhodes distribution center for the Northwest and will have two employees.
