A former longtime Nampa postal worker has pleaded guilty to mail theft.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says Laura Cox, 56, was captured on video surveillance opening up mail at the Melba U.S. Post Office that did not belong to her and then removing contents and placing them inside her employee locker.

The video camera was installed following numerous complaints from customers of the Melba post office who reported problems with their mail. Cox had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service since January 1, 2000.

She's scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 4 at the federal courthouse in Boise.
