Former ISU Professor sued by attorney

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) - The attorney representing former Idaho State University professor Habib Sadid in a lawsuit against the school has filed a defamation lawsuit against Sadid.

The Idaho State Journal reports in a story on Sunday that attorney Ronaldo Coulter filed the lawsuit Dec. 30 in Sixth District Court seeking nearly $500,000.

Sadid and the school in December reached a settlement in a defamation lawsuit brought by Sadid against the university. Terms weren't disclosed.

But Sadid on Dec. 18 asked U.S. District Court Judge B. Lynn Winmill to reopen the case, saying he wants to clear his name.

Sadid also in December made comments to the newspaper contending Coulter took inappropriate actions and that Sadid might inform the Idaho State Bar.

Coulter in his lawsuit cites stories that appeared in the newspaper quoting Sadid.
