Ada County Food Truck Voting: A 2017 World Changing Idea!
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - The Ada County Elections’ mobile voting food truck has been recognized as a 2017 World Changing Idea.
Ada County Elections debuted the mobile voting truck (a.k.a food truck voting) in time for the November 2016 Election.
The concessions trailer, that was converted into a mobile voting unit, was used as a way to make early voting more available to more voters in more places.
Ada County Elections took the trailer all over Ada County to areas that have not had early voting in the past.
More than 5,000 citizens in Ada County used the mobile voting trailer to cast their ballot in November.
Fast Company recently announced the winners of the 2017 World Changing Ideas Awards and Ada County Elections was one of the finalists.
“It’s not often that government is recognized for innovative ideas," said Chief Deputy Clerk Phil McGrane. "We appreciate being among the businesses and non-profits that make up the list of finalists. With our successful roll out last November, we hope other jurisdictions will take up the food truck voting concept and we’ll see voting expand even wider."
