Family of five safe following overnight two-alarm house fire in Meridian

Firefighters put out a two-alarm fire at a house in a Meridian neighhborhood early Wednesday morning.

Ada County dispatch reports the fire was called in at 2:18 a.m. Boise and Meridian Fire crews responded to the house located on East Fallingbranch Drive in Meridian.

Thankfully, the family and their dog were able to get out safely.

"This was a difficult fire to fight," Boise Fire said.

The west part of the house did collapse near the kitchen. Because of the collapse, the building is deemed structurally unsafe.

The family is being assisted by the burnout fund.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Firefighters will remain on the scene until all is clear.
