Family of police shooting victim files lawsuit
LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) - The family of a man shot by a Nez Perce Tribal Police officer after a pursuit in a stolen pickup two years ago has filed a wrongful death lawsuit naming the officer and the former police chief.
The Lewiston Tribune reports John and Mary Flinn, the father and daughter of Jeffrey A. Flinn, filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court on Monday.
Neither the tribe nor former police chief Leslie Hendrick knew about the lawsuit and declined comment.
The lawsuit alleges Flinn led officers on a chase on U.S. Highway 95 that ended near Ferdinand when the vehicle hit a spike strip. The lawsuit charges that Flinn was shot by officer Robert Wall as he stood outside the truck with his hands above his head.
A judge dismissed a voluntary manslaughter charge filed against Wall.
