Eagle Island State Park beach to-reopen Saturday for swimmers

EAGLE, Idaho (KBOI) -- Eagle Island State Park plans to open its swimming area on Saturday after it closed earlier this month when dozens of people reported falling ill after contracting the norovirus.

"...We've taken extensive measures to address the recent concern and cause of illness at Eagle Island State Park," said Keith Hobbs, Idaho Parks and Recreation operations administrator.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Equality says officials have taken water samples throughout the swimming area and surrounding lake and all were within safe limits.

The state says it will continue to closely monitor water quality.
