Driver was drunk at time of crash that killed woman, prosecutors say

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - A 25-year-old man suspected of causing a crash that killed a young woman appeared in court Monday.

Eagle resident Andrew Cassell had his bail set at $75,000. He's suspected of causing a crash on Highway 44 near Horseshoe Bend Road early Friday moning. His passenger, Aldina Ekic, 21 of Boise, died at the scene.

Prosecutors say Cassell's blood alcohol content registered a .14 after the crash. He also, they say, admitted to drinking and had a bar wristband on his wrist.

Troopers say costume material was found in the car and say the two may have been coming from a Halloween party.

Cassell's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 18. A judge also ordered him not to drink alcohol or drive.
