"The prognosis is better than good," said Sheriff Chris Smith. "It's amazing."

The deputy will be escorted by a police motorcade from St. Alphonsus to Nampa High School for his son's football game.

Law enforcement officers from Canyon County, Ada County, Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell and Idaho State Police are expected to participate in the motorcade as a show of support for their fellow officer.

Batt, who has not been charged, is still in serious condition at St. Alphonsus. Deputies say when confronted, he attempted to shoot himself.
