Dense fog causes numerous crashes east of Boise on I-84

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Multiple crashes caused interstate-84 to be closed earlier Wednesday east of Boise.

Idaho State Police investigated multiple crashes on both the east and west sides of Interstate 84 between mileposts 55, just before the Gowen Exit and 61, just before the Blacks Creek Rest area. Multiple accidents forced Idaho State Police to close down east and west bound lanes from about 8am until around 10:30 a.m.

Heavy fog made travel in the area difficult and Idaho State Police says folks should try to avoid the area.

"It's been one of those winters where we've had the ice storm, we've had fog, and again and again it all comes down to people failing to adjust to the conditions of the roadway," said Sgt. Sam Ketchum with the Idaho State Police.

Idaho State Police says, most of the accidents Wednesday morning were because people did not slow down while driving in the foggy conditions.
