Dead whale washes up on Wash. beach

OCEAN SHORES, Wash. (AP) - A deputy on patrol Thursday morning found a dead whale washed up on a beach about four miles north of Ocean Shores, 3 miles from Ocean City beach access.

Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified and are assisting Cascadia Research who is leading the response.

Logistic of sampling and possible disposal of the whale will take place within next couple days.

The species of whale has been determined as Balaenoptera, or blue whale.
