Daughter who killed her mother with hammer sentenced

NAMPA, Idaho - (KBOI) - A Nampa woman who pleaded guilty to beating her mother to death with a hammer has been sentenced to prison.

Kelly Singh was sentenced Friday in Canyon County court to spend at least the next 20 years in prison. Singh killed her mother in February 2012 at a home they shared in Nampa.

Officers entered the home and found 69-year-old Ruth Ann Collins in a bedroom suffering from head trauma. Medics were immediately called and the victim was transported to Saint Alphonsus. Collins died shortly after midnight. (Photos from the Scene >>>)

If Singh is released at some point, she will be on probation for the rest of her life.
